MY ONE AND ONLY!

No, I am not talking about my husband,( although he is my one and only husband and will stay that way) I am talking about my one and only DISHWASHER. A drawer dishwasher no less! How did I go from never having had a dishwasher to a Kenmore (made by Kitchen Aide) drawer dishwasher? Well, aside from my opinion that I deserved one because I never had one, we have a galley kitchen that is narrow and our side by side refrigerator is across from where we had to install our dishwasher. We did not spend our money on a counter- depth refrigerator but on a side by side which was much bigger than we thought!!!(measure twice cut once applies to installing refrigerators). A regular dishwasher would open up too far and hit our refrigerator but the drawer dishwasher opens up all of the way with a few inches to spare!

STILL IN LOVE!!

Yes, I know it sounds crazy but I was putting my dirty dishes in my drawer dishwasher, closed it up and listened to the beautiful music it makes (to me). Once again I thought how much I just love this contraption. No more backache doing dishes, shriveled finger tips and the amount of time it takes to do a sink full of dishes...oye!  So one more thing to make my life more pleasant (and you know I think I have earned it!!)

I only hope that you will find some little thing in your life such as this that will just add a little more comfort to you and yours!

YES, I'M IN LOVE!!!

Once again I will say I love my husband more than my dishwasher just to clarify things. I do admit to walking by my Kenmore double drawer dishwasher and caressing it and even giving it a kiss. There, yes I said it. I kissed it...more than once too. There is something very cool about putting dirty dishes in a drawer and then having them come out clean! You have to understand I am older (and we won't say how old) and I have never had a dishwasher in my life. Some people don't mind but frankly I became tired of doing the dishes in our family. It is a lot of work that is UNDER-appreciated. I admit over the years I took to grumbling; sometimes under my breath and sometimes out loud.

Who are these dearly departed people at memorial services that people say about," Oh I never heard her complain once or grumble under her breath"??? Are they for real? I guess that's a whole other hub...

You won't hear me complain anymore. I love seeing an empty sink in the morning! I also love the quiet swishing hum that our dishwasher makes at night. I find the sound comforting like a fountain. I'm almost getting poetic!

If you love doing dishes by hand; I say, "God bless you". But if you don't, I recommend that you get a dishwasher and if you have a galley kitchen and can afford it go for the drawer style and enjoy the quiet hum while IT does your dishes!

ONE YEAR DISHWASHER ANIVERSARY!!!

Yes, it has been ONE year since we installed our drawer dishwasher and to be honest, I still get excited when it is running and washing my (our) dishes. I still think it is very cool that I can put dirty dishes into a drawer and then later open it up and they are clean. I guess I am very easily entertained!! Perhaps they will invent a drawer-clotheswasher for the bedroom and you just put your dirty clothes in and then a little later you open up your drawer and they are clean AND dry! There has to be someone out there that can come up with THAT invention! :)

So, I still love the hum of my dishwasher at night; it is so quiet and you can hear the water swish but it is not loud at all. Now you know that a year later I am still enjoying my one and only!

Pat writes: I had not come across drawer dishwashers until a few months ago. I was trying to help my step-mother replace her fridge. The old one was about 25 years old and we soon discovered that all modern fridges are BIG! (At least in the USA) And big means not just wide, but deep, and this gave us a problem with the dishwasher. We did eventually solve the problem without replacing the dishwasher, but in the course of research I saw my first drawer dishwasher. The next time I need to replace my own dishwasher, I hope to be able to buy one of these!
